The Minister for the Environment; Science has provided the following response: (1) Twenty-one whole pastoral leases and 21 part leases covering a total area of about 4,389,000 hectares have been acquired for conservation purposes between 1 July 1995 and 30 June 2005. (2) The total operational budget for 2005/06 for these properties is $1.17 million plus $32,000 for capital works. The allocations to different properties vary from year to year according to changing needs.
