In relation to the Minister’s media statement on 19 November 2010 that staff from the State Records Office (SRO) were assisting the Town of Claremont and that the SRO holds records of the Town prior to 1980, I ask:
(a) can the Minister please advise what business continuity, disaster recovery and/or vital records plans existed for the Town of Claremont?
(b) as the Minister indicated that rate books of the Town from 1903-1938 are held in the State Archives collection, where were rate books and information since 1938 held, and how many back-up copies were made of these collections;
(c) as the Minister indicated council and committee minutes from 1898 to 1980 were held in the State Archives, where were similar records since 1980 stored and how many back-up locations and copies were in place;
(d) will the Minister please list all Western Australian local governments for which SRO holds a complete set of minutes, rate books and correspondence files;
(e) will the minister please list all Western Australian local governments for which SRO holds an incomplete set of minutes, rate books and correspondence files; and
(f) will the minister please list all Western Australian local governments for which SRO holds no sets of minutes, rate books and correspondence files?

(b-c) Ratebooks and other records not transferred to the SRO are held by the Town of Claremont in accordance with their RKP, and the relevant Standards and Directives issued by the State Records Commission and the SRO.
(d) None.

(f) None of the following local government authorities, or their predecessors, has transferred records to SRO. [see tabled paper no]
Local Government Authorities formed after the Local Government Boundaries Commission report of 1992, including the Towns of Victoria Park, Cambridge and Vincent and the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku, will not have archives older than 25 years ready for transfer.
