secretary representing the Attorney General:
I refer to recommendation
20 of the report Broken Bonds, Fractured Lives:
Report on the Inquiry into Past Forced Adoption in Western Australia , which
calls for a redress scheme for those affected by past forced adoptions in WA.
(1) Is the Attorney General aware the government
response acknowledged that for many people who have experienced a forced
adoption, redress signifies an important step in the formal recognition,
accountability and healing?
(2) Is the Attorney General aware the Western Australian Government First Annual
Implementation Progress Report of the Government Response to Report 66—Broken
Bonds, Fractured Lives 2024–25 states that the Department of
Justice has undertaken detailed policy work on the recommended redress scheme?
(3) Has this policy work been completed?
(4) If no to any of the above, why not?
