CORONAVIRUS —
ECONOMIC RECOVERY
922. Mr
D.C. NALDER to the Treasurer:
I have a supplementary question.
Those thresholds were announced prior to COVID. Why is his government not
providing long-term tax relief for small businesses to deliver a stronger
economic recovery from the COVID crisis?

As
I just said, we have legislated a payroll tax threshold lift from 1 January
next year as a result of COVID. I emphasise, again, for the shadow
Treasurer's ears, as a result of COVID, we brought that forward to 1 July
this year. Again, I want to say 14 000 to 17 000 businesses benefited from
that, which is why they thanked me and continue to thank me for that decision
made by this government.
