Fremantle Traffic Bridge—Closure
1157. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the
upcoming closure of the Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
(1) Has any modelling
been done regarding the increase in travel time once the Fremantle Traffic
Bridge closes?
(2) If yes to (1):
(a) what modelling has been done;
(b) what impact will the bridge closure have on
average travel times between Carrington Street and Tydeman Road; and
(c) will the minister please table a copy of the
modelling?
(3) If no to (1) and/or (2)(c), why not?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I provide the following
answer on behalf of the Minister for Transport.
(1)–(3) The project team has undertaken a
thorough analysis of the network to determine how best to manage the road
network during the planned temporary closure of the existing Fremantle Traffic
Bridge and the subsequent diversion of traffic onto Stirling Bridge. This
included traffic assessment of several intersections likely to be impacted by
the bridge closure. This modelling has been used to inform practical measures
aimed at minimising disruption during the closure, including network
adjustments and demand management strategies.
