(1) It is anticipated that the new Regulations will be introduced before the end of 2009.
Some of the recommendations of the Regulations Review require changes to licensing processes. For example, Recommendation One refers to minimising the need for services to lodge repeated copies of documentation. This requires changes to the Child Care Licensing and Standards Unit (CCLSU) database. The introduction of a new information technology system at the CCLSU which went "live" on 2 June 2009 will assist in meeting this recommendation.
(2) The Economic and Expenditure Reform Committee has determined that there will be a reduction of $556 000 in 2009-10 to rationalise the Department for Communities' structure.
(3) It is not expected to impact on the Department for Communities' ability to implement the new regulations and compliance in Child Care services.
(4) Staffing decisions for the department during 2009-10 will be made consistent with the budget allocation. This will include the implementation of strategies to improve staffing efficiencies.
(5) It is not anticipated there will be any negative impact.
(6) This is still being assessed.
