I refer to the Minister's answer to question on notice No. 3462, answered on 20 October 2015, and I ask: (a) what multidisciplinary community based home visiting services are provided under the Non-Admitted Mental Health Program in the South West region; (b) where in the South West are these services provided; (c) why does the Government consider it necessary to provide Hospital in the Home services in the metropolitan area where there are also multidisciplinary community based home visiting services; and (d) why is there no plan to extend the Hospital in the Home service to the South West region?

(a) The South West Mental Health Service (SWMHS) includes multidisciplinary community mental health teams which offer assessment and treatment by Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Medical Practitioners, including via home visiting depending on individual client circumstances.
(b) This service, which includes Adult, Older Adult, Child and Adolescent and Aboriginal Mental Health programs, is based in Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River and Bridgetown and outreaches across the South West region.
(c) Hospital in the Home (HiTH) services were established in parts of the metropolitan area as a substitute for hospital-based beds for those who are best placed to receive their care in the community.
(d) The WA Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Plan 2015 – 2025 (the Plan) outlines an intention to expand HiTH programs to approximately 20% of inpatient mental health beds by 2025. HiTH services are not being considered for the South West region at this point in time because the inpatient activity in the region is fully accounted for by the current allocation of acute hospital-based beds.
