RIVERTON TRUCK BAN
Is the government proceeding with the start of the so-called Riverton truck ban from 1 October 2007 - yes or no? Hon ADELE FARINA

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question. As the honourable member will be aware from numerous public announcements, the commencement of truck restrictions on Leach Highway and South Street are conditional upon the completion of the southern suburbs railway. This is because the new rail project is expected to reduce the number of vehicles travelling on Kwinana Freeway, and consequently provide additional capacity to accommodate the extra trucks that will be using Kwinana Freeway between Roe Highway and Leach Highway. The date will be set once the date for the commencement on New MetroRail services has been determined.
