With regard to Exploration Incentive Scheme, funded by Royalties for Regions, I ask —
(1) Since the inception of the Exploration Incentive Scheme, which publicly listed companies have received a grant?
(2) For each of these publicly listed companies, what was the total amount of the grant(s) distributed?
(3) Since the commencement of the Exploration Incentive Scheme —
(a) which companies received a grant with the intent of using the funds to target uranium exploration; and
(b) how much did each of these companies receive from the Exploration Initiative Scheme?
(4) Since the commencement of the Exploration Incentive Scheme —
(a) which companies received a grant with the intent of using the funds to target onshore unconventional gas; and
(b) how much did each of these companies receive from the Exploration Initiative Scheme?
(5) Since the commencement of the Exploration Incentive Scheme —
(a) which companies received a grant with the intent of using the funds to target coal;
(b) which of these companies were targeting coal within the Fitzroy River catchment area; and
(c) how much did each of these companies receive from the Exploration Initiative Scheme?
(6) In the forthcoming announcement of successful applicants (anticipated to be in June 2012), will the Minister rule out the possibility of awarding a grant to —
(a) any publicly listed companies;
(b) any companies proposing to use the funds to target uranium;
(c) any companies proposing to use the funds to target onshore unconventional gas;
(d) any companies proposing to use the funds to target coal;
(e) any companies proposing to explore within the West Kimberley National Heritage area; and
(f) any companies proposing to explore within the Fitzroy River catchment area?
(7) Are there any specific companies, types of companies, types of exploration, target minerals or locations that the Government will not consider for publicly-subsidized exploration works?
(8) If yes to (7), please provide details.
(9) Who is responsible for monitoring the activities of companies provided with public subsidies for exploration and their compliance with any conditions placed on their activities?
(10) Have any of the companies awarded public subsidies for exploration breached their license conditions?
(11) If yes to (10), what action has been taken in each case?
(12) Have all the companies that have received public subsidies for exploration activities actually carried out the works for which the funds were given?
(13) If no to (12), which works have not been completed and what has become of the funds awarded?

(7)  No explorer with access to tenements in Western Australia is excluded from submitting an application for a Co-funded Drilling grant.

(11)  In the case of the first breach, forfeiture action was initiated in relation to non- compliance with the expenditure condition. A penalty of $3,427 was imposed  in lieu of forfeiture.
In the case of the second breach, forfeiture action was initiated in relation to non-compliance with the mineral exploration reporting provisions. A penalty of $90 was imposed in lieu of forfeiture.
(12)  Yes. As the grant is in the form of a refund no funding is given to successful applicants until the proposed program has been undertaken.
