I have a supplementary question. Mr J.N. Hyde: Five hundred clubs said they did not want to hear from you today. The SPEAKER: Member for Perth, you do not get to ask a question. Mr D.F. BARRON-SULLIVAN: When will Bunbury’s rapid response squad get the remaining 19 officers the minister promised? Mrs M.H. ROBERTS

AnswerView source ↗

I remind the Deputy Leader of the Opposition about the separation of powers between the Government and the Police Service. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER: I call the member for Kalgoorlie to order for the first time. Mrs M.H. ROBERTS: This Government has certainly delivered on its promises. Quite apart from the enterprise bargaining agreement, the Government has provided a $110 million increase to the last police budget. That represents a 25 per cent increase in the police budget, which is nothing short of phenomenal. As our 250 officers come on line - about 30 officers a month are currently graduating from the Police Academy - they will be filtered out to the regions at the discretion of the Commissioner of Police.
