ROCK FISHING —
LIFE JACKET TRIAL
838. Hon COLIN HOLT to the minister representing the
Minister for Fisheries:
On 29 April 2018, the Premier
announced that there would be a trial of the mandatory wearing of life jackets
for anglers at rock fishing blackspots.
(1) When will
community consultation on the trial commence and how long will the consultation
period be?
(2) Will there be
a need for any new legislation or legislative amendments to commence the trial?
(3) If yes to
(2), when can Parliament expect to see the legislation?
(4) Can the
minister please provide operational details of the trial, including the
designated blackspot locations; the commencement date of the trial and the
length of the trial; the types of life jackets required to be worn during the
trial; how the trial will be enforced; and how the effectiveness of the trial
will be measured?
