I refer to the minister’s answer to my earlier question about the Muja A and B power stations. (1) Was the tender process to acquire a joint venture partner an open process? (2) If not, can the minister please explain how he selected the joint venture partner? (3) Who provided advice to the minister regarding an appropriate joint venture partner? Hon PETER COLLIER

I thank the honourable member for the question. (1)-(3) Verve Energy is a statutory corporation and acts in a commercial capacity. Verve Energy carried out the tender process and I am very comfortable with the way in which negotiations are proceeding. Suffice it to say that it will be a very productive and successful joint venture partnership. The private venture partner will provide around $90 million in capital, and the plant and infrastructure will be provided by Verve. When the negotiations are finalised, the t’s have been crossed and the i’s have been dotted, I will make a public announcement.
