Under the scheme, the State Government, through the Department of Housing and Works, will purchase a share in the property and provide the homebuyer with a Keystart low-deposit loan to purchase the remaining share. The Department will purchase up to 40 percent for families with incomes under $60,000; up to 30 per cent for couples with incomes under $50,000; and up to 30 per cent for singles with incomes under $35,000. Already, overall more than 200 West Australian households have been approved for a First Start Home loan and have purchased or are in the process of purchasing a property. Homes already purchased have ranged from $124,000 to $365,000. Properties have been purchased throughout the State including in Perth, Albany, Armadale, Bentley, Clarkson, Mandurah, Nollamara, Northam, Port Kennedy, Wanneroo, Wagin and Yokine. The dollar value of the homes purchased is $17.107 million.
