SOUTH WEST CHILD AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH
SERVICE — FUNDING
1. 218. Hon ADELE FARINA to the Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the minister's
answer to question without notice 57 stating that seven full-time equivalents
are currently allocated to the south west child and adolescent mental health
service, and the minister's answer to question without notice 882,
asked in November 2012, stating that 11.58 FTEs were allocated to the south
west CAMHS. If an additional $220 000 in funding was allocated to the south
west CAMHS in 2012–13 to employ two additional FTEs, how is it that the
number of FTEs has declined by 4.58?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of this question.
The substantive CAMHS workforce for
the south west CAMHS is 9.8 full-time equivalents and is inclusive of the
growth funding of $220 000 to employ the additional two FTEs. Of the 9.8 FTEs,
there is a 1.8 FTE vacancy pending the recruitment outcome. The response to
parliamentary question 57 included only the seven FTEs south west CAMHS staff
paid that fortnight. Question without notice 882 reported actual paid FTEs from
the human resources data warehouse, which does not distinguish between
productive and non-productive FTEs—that is, those on leave and
backfilling, giving an increased FTE—and also included administration
and hotel services FTEs that are not usually included when reporting CAMHS
staff. This explains the variance as indicated by Hon Adele Farina .
