I refer to the Department of State Development Browse LNG precinct environment assessment process, and ask -
(1) Can the Minister confirm thatGreenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from the Browse LNG precinct will increase WA GHG emissions by up to 50 percent?
(2) If no to (1), will the Minister state why this is incorrect and table the projected GHG emissions from the Browse LNG Precinct?
(3) If yes to (1), can the Minster explain why the Government has left any abatement measures to be determined by Woodside, under a derived proposal assessment with no transparency or public comment period?

(1-3) The Environmental Protection Authority is currently assessing a strategic proposal for the development of a precinct to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) from gas fields in the offshore Browse basin.  When the EPA completes its assessment, it will provide the Minister for Environment with a report on the projected levels of greenhouse gas emissions, together with other environmental matters, and recommendations about the proper management of greenhouse gas emissions. At present, the Browse LNG precinct proposal is still under assessment by the EPA and it would be inappropriate for me to comment in detail on these matters until that assessment is completed.
