I refer to the 2010-11 Annual Report of the Western Australian Country High School Hostels Authority, Page 64, and I ask:
(a) for the two complaints alleging inappropriate release of information:
(i) were the complaints concerning staff member(s) at the same residential college, two different colleges or the Authority’s Central Office;
(ii) was the information released about a student or students;
(iii) in each case, what disciplinary action was taken;
(b) for the five complaints in relation to residential college operations and student behaviour management, for each complaint:
(i) was the complaint made against a student or a staff member;
(ii) was the complaint about a physical assault and if yes, what was the nature of the assault;
(iii) was support for a restorative process gained from all parties and if not, what disciplinary action was taken; and
(c) did any residential college have more than one of the complaints referred to in (b), and if so, how many?

(a)(i) Two different colleges.
(a)(ii) Yes.
(a)(iii) In the first instance, the employee was given a formal reprimand and required to undertake additional training in relation to the handling of and responsibility for official and confidential records.
In the second instance, the identity of the individual who had released the information could not be discovered. All staff were informed about the management of official records and proper processes to be implemented at a parent's request for information.
(b)(i) Four of the complaints were against staff.  One was against the agency.
(b)(ii) None of the complaints against staff related to physical contact/assault.
(b)(iii) A restorative process was considered an option for three of the five complaints and in each case the parties participated in a restorative process. The fourth involved a legal process and the fifth did not involve any disciplinary action.
(c) Yes. One residential college had two complaints.
