STATE
FINANCES — ASSET SALES
541. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Is the Premier saying that
this article, which states the government has a plan to privatise Synergy and
Verve or successor entities, is correct or incorrect?

AnswerView source ↗

The government does not have a plan to privatise those
utilities, but maybe a component of them. That decision has yet to be made.
Mr M. McGowan : So
your minister got it wrong?
The
SPEAKER : Leader of the Opposition!
Mr
M. McGowan : You don't even know.
The SPEAKER :
Leader of the Opposition!
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I
am telling the Leader of the Opposition that, as Premier, I have no plan for
and there will be no privatisation by this government of the utilities. Will a
component or some land belonging to some of those utilities be sold? Yes, quite
possibly, but we have yet to get to that point.
