I refer to the answer to Question on Notice 5055, and ask: (a) Why has there been a reduction in funding for homelessness accommodation services of over $2.7 million between the years 2017-18 and 2018-19; and (b) Has there been a reduced demand for homelessness accommodation services between the years 2017-18 and 2018-19?

Whilst the Member’s question refers to Question on Notice 5055, it is assumed the Member intended to refer to Question on Notice 5505. The following answer has been provided on the basis that 5505 is the correct reference to the member’s questions.
a) Funding provided in 2017-18 included the Commonwealth Government’s Pay Equity for Social and Community Services Sector payments (SACS) for both 2016-17 and 2017-18. Funding provided in 2018-19 included the SACS payment for 2018-19 only.
Additionally, one-off reductions in payments for some services occurred, that had been negotiated with Service Providers in response to individual contract circumstances. A further reduction of $16,383 occurred in 2018-19 due to the cessation of the Cameliers Guest House in Geraldton.
b) No. Data relating to Specialist Homelessness Services is published by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
