The
Public Transport Authority
advises:
(1) There have been reports of laminate peeling off SmartRider cards, however they are uncommon. The lamination is merely a protective layer for the SmartRider card and does not interfere with card functionality. When a commuter presents a SmartRider card to Transperth that has peeling lamination, the card is replaced free of charge if there are no signs of misuse of the card.
(2) SmartRider cards are expected to last four years with normal use, however some cards in circulation that have lasted six years to date.
