On behalf of the Minister for
Corrective Services, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) No. The
Department of Corrective Services advises that it did not provide a copy of the
report to the Minister for Corrective Services.
(2) The
Department of Corrective Services considered that the 2012 survey methodology,
questions and sample size would not provide statistically valid outcomes of use
to the Department of Corrective Services.
The next survey will be conducted in
mid-2015 by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare under the auspices
of the National Prisoner Health Information Committee. The Department of
Corrective Services advises that it is currently working with the National
Prisoner Health Information Committee to address the methodological issues of
concern. The Department of Corrective Services anticipates participation in the
2015 survey.
