(1) Can the minister inform the house what role he and the Department of Fisheries have had in the establishment of marine reserves, sanctuary zones and fish habitat areas as recently announced by the Minister for the Environment? (2) Has the Department of Fisheries been sidelined from involvement in these decisions, and its scientific advice ignored, as was the case with the significant increase in the Ningaloo Marine Park no-fishing zones? (3) What consultation has occurred with both the commercial and recreational fishing sectors prior to these announcements? (4) If the answer to (3) is none, why not? Hon JON FORD
