(b) At least 21 (see explanation at part (e).
(c) - (d)This information is not recorded, however, the Youth Crime Intervention Officers (YCIO) are deployed across the District, including Busselton, based upon:
(e)YCIO facilitate the access and engagement of Prolific and Priority Offenders (PPO) and other young offenders with service providers where those agencies provide programs that divert young people from their offending lifestyle.
The figures compiled in response to questions (a) and (b) are derived from manual records held by South West District Police.
The Western Australia Police Force Incident Management System (IMS) and Offender Management System (OMS) are used to record reported crime. The systems are not expressly designed to youth engagement statistics.
Accordingly, these figures were derived from:
This is not a complete record. Police exercise their discretion in relation to children for many reasons, and many of these contacts are not required to be recorded.
It is estimated that the figures provided in response to questions (a) and (b) are substantially less than the actual contact with youth by police.
