We are all conscious that we are in Albany - the first European settlement in Western Australia - and that it is the 100th anniversary of the State Parliament building and the 175th anniversary of the settlement of the Swan River colony. Given all these facts, and given that our State flag has been a constant symbol for Western Australia since the 1870s, will the Premier now support legislation introduced by the Liberal Opposition that outlaws the desecration of the Western Australian and Australian flags? Well, that is a real blow from the Opposition. I support the Western Australian State flag, and, like the Prime Minister, I also support the freedom of people to speak and display their opinions on a range of matters.
