DEVELOPMENT — CARBON EMISSIONS
970. Hon KATE DOUST to the
Leader of the House representing the Minister for State Development:
(1) Has the Minister for State Development
had any discussions with the federal Minister for the Environment or the
federal Minister for Industry and Science since 12 August 2015 regarding the
decision to reduce carbon emissions by 28 per cent on their 2005 levels by
2030?
(2) Has the minister had a briefing from the
Department of State Development on this issue, and how will it be accommodated
in our future development pipeline?
(3) Will this target have any impact on the
future development of the LNG industry in Western Australia; and, if so, what
will that impact be?
(4) Will project proponents be permitted to
purchase international permits to accommodate these targets?

(3) Assessments
of any potential impacts cannot be undertaken until specific target policy
details are known.
(4) This is a matter for the commonwealth government, and it
is still to be determined.
