refer to the second phase review of the Local Government Act 1995 and ask: (a) How
many written submissions have been made to the second phase of the review; (b) Will
the submissions be made public: (i) If
yes, when and where; (c) Will
any of the submissions not be made public: (i) If
yes, why and how many; (d) What
period has been dedicated by the Minister or his department to the reference
group’s consideration of the submissions; (e) When
will the second phase review be finalised; and (f) Has
the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) participated in any of the workshops held in regards to the second
phase of the review: (i) If
yes, when and where were the workshops and what were the topics discussed; and (ii) Who
represented WALGA at the workshops?

(i) Responses will be published on the Department’s website once the responses have been reviewed.
(c) Yes
(i) In some cases response authors have requested that their submissions not be published. A proportion of responses contain material that is not suitable for publication. The number of responses to be published will be known once the responses have been reviewed.
(d) It is not the role of the Reference Group to review submissions.
(e) When a Bill to replace the Local Government Act 1995 is read into Parliament.
(f) Clarification is sought on what is meant by WA Local Government Association in the terms of this question.
