SYNERGY — OUTAGE — COLLIE
598. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to Synergy's
unscheduled outage of the 318-megawatt Collie power station, initially shut for
maintenance in early April 2023 and, as at 13 June 2023, unable to restart.
(1) What is the scope of critical
work that Synergy is currently undertaking at the power station?
(2) When will the
station be restarted, and what contingency plans are in place for generation,
should this date not be met?
(3) Since l June
2023, how many times has Synergy fired up diesel generators for power supply
generation and continuity, on what dates and for what time periods?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister
for Energy.
(1) The Collie
power station is undergoing critical scheduled maintenance works on the
generator exciter protection system—that is correct!
(2) The scope of
work is scheduled to be completed on 23 June 2023, at which time the unit will
undergo final safety checks and commissioning. Generation capacity in the south
west interconnected system is the responsibility of the Australian Energy
Market Operator.
(3) Nil.
