parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
(1) Are there any plans to close the
Cunderdin Hospital?
(2) If yes to (1), when will the
hospital close?
(3) If no to (1), will there be any
changes, reduction or removal of any of the services currently offered?
(4) If yes to (3), which services
will be changed, reduced or removed?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) No.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) Yes.
(4) The facility
will continue to offer 24-hour, seven-day-a-week emergency department
stabilisation and retrieval services, backed up by emergency telehealth services, including acute short-stay observation
prior to discharge or transfer. The facility will have significantly enhanced
ambulatory care, community health, child, mental health and aged-care services
backed up by state-of-the-art telehealth access. In
addition, the Shire of Cunderdin recently supported changes to
aged-care-enhancing services through the establishment of innovative supported
aged-care accommodation. The Cunderdin shire has also entered into an agreement
with WA Country Health Service to transition the current health facility to a primary
health care demonstration site. Primary healthcare demonstration sites are
fit-for-purpose healthcare facilities that enable communities to focus on the
promotion of good health, prevention and early detection of illness and
management of chronic disease on the one site.
