WA Health has recently completed a series of significant reforms to standardise and improve the quality of medical specialty workforce information in corporate computer based systems to facilitate workforce planning. Prior to these reforms the ability to provide medical workforce information at the specialty level relied on a manually intensive process to review paper based records. This manual process had significant limitations on the ability to provide accurate, reliable and comparable information within a reasonable timeframe.
As a consequence, based on information produced from its workforce corporate systems, WA Health is able to provide a breakdown of medical specialists listed in (a-i) as at September 2011 but not for any prior time periods.
The selected specialist categories given in (2) represent only a subset of all the categories totalled in (1).
FTE (Full Time Equivalent):
- FTE is calculated as the monthly Average FTE and is the average hours worked during a period of time divided by the Award Full Time Hours for the same period. Hours include ordinary time; overtime; all leave categories; public holidays, Time Off in Lieu, Workers Compensation.
- FTE includes DOH staff only and excludes agency.
- FTE figures provided are based on Actual (Paid) FTE.
