I refer to the Human Reproductive
Technology and Surrogacy Legislation Amendment Bill 2018.
(1) Has the
minister received or is he aware of advice that the bill may create unlawful
discrimination against women?
(2) When did he
first receive or become aware of advice to that effect?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I am advised of the following.
(1)–(2) The
Minister for Health did not receive and was not aware of advice that the bill
may create unlawful discrimination against women until the tabling of the
Standing Committee on Legislation's report on the Human Reproductive
Technology and Surrogacy Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 this morning, 27 June 2019.
