FLUORIDE LEVELS
1490. Hon NICK GOIRAN to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Water:
I
refer to the minister's answer on 6 November 2024 to my question
without notice in which he informed the house —
When trends in natural fluoride
levels exceed the ADWG, the Water Corporation, in consultation with the
Department of Health, issues a community advisory notification and bottled
water is provided to the relevant parts of the community.
(1) What is the Australian Drinking
Water Guidelines level?
(2) How many community advisory
notifications have been issued in this calendar year?
(3) How does this compare with the
number of notifications issued in the previous three years?
(4) Will the minister table a copy
of the notifications?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister
for Water.
(1) The ADWG fluoride guideline is
a maximum of 1.5 milligrams per litre.
(2) Water Corporation has issued advisories for four
communities: Crocodile Hole, Kiwirrkurra, Tjukurla and Bow River.
Advisories for fluoride are reissued monthly, and, to date for this calendar
year, 10 advisories have been issued for each community, totalling 40
advisories.
(3) Water
Corporation took over the management of these communities under its Aboriginal
communities water services program on 1 July 2023.
(4) I table the
attached water alert document.
