PUBLIC HOUSING —
CEILING INSULATION
95. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
I refer to public and social
housing stock in Western Australia.
(1) What percentage or number of
houses have ceiling insulation?
(2) If the answer to (1) is not
known, why is this not tracked?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response is provided by the Minister
for Housing.
(1)–(2) Energy-efficiency
provisions, including ceiling insulation, have been a mandatory requirement of
the National Construction Code since 2003. The Department of Communities builds
social housing properties in Western Australia to a Nationwide House Energy
Rating Scheme seven-star rating, exceeding the minimum standards set out in the
NCC.
