I refer to the minister's
announcement about banning mobile phones in schools.
(1) Will the minister table the
guidelines for this new policy?
(2) Will any
additional resources be required to implement and monitor the new policy; and,
if yes, will the minister provide more detail?

(1) Yes. I table
the attached documents. The policy and guidelines for this new policy are also
available on the Department of Education's website.

(2) The
department has people on staff now—this answer is as at 30 October—as
a direct line for principals to call as they consider their current practice
and any changes they need to make. A range of supports are available to
schools, such as template letters for communication with the school community,
parents and citizens associations, school
boards and councils. The department has many principals already implementing this, and principals themselves have good-practice examples. An online
community has been set up to enable schools to share their resources and practical
ideas.
