ALBANY RING-ROAD —
WORLD WAR II STRATEGIC RESERVE FUEL TANKS
827. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I ask this question on behalf of Hon
Colin Holt, who is absent on urgent parliamentary business.
I refer to the Albany ring-road.
(1) Is the
minister aware of the presence of World War II strategic reserve fuel tanks
just east of the junction of Hanrahan Road and Frenchman Bay Road?
(2) Will
construction of the Albany ring-road impact this historical site; and, if so,
how will it be impacted?
(3) Will the minister commit to
community consultation; and, if so, when?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank Hon Colin Holt for some
notice of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the
Minister for Transport.
(1) Yes.
(2) This
section of the project remains subject to detailed design. However, we are
confident that the impacts to the tanks, if any, will be negligible.
(3) Main Roads WA
is already in discussions with the City of Albany about enhancements to
pedestrian and cycling connectivity in this location. There has already been
extensive engagement with the community about the Albany ring-road project as a
whole. This will continue as the project moves into construction.
