FEDERAL FUNDING
907. Dr A.D. BUTI to the
Premier:
I refer to the Premier's
comments in the house yesterday when he claimed that Western Australian schools
will receive more money under the new school funding agreement with the federal
government. He stated —
For the year that matters, next year,
that is an extra $31 million.
(1) How does the
Premier explain the figures that federal Liberal Christopher Pyne provided
today that showed that for the 2014 school year Western Australia received the
same amount of funding on offer under the previous Labor deal?
(2) Will the
Premier now acknowledge Christopher Pyne's public statement made today
and apologise for misleading the house yesterday?

(1)–(2) I
have not got my notes in front of me, but the latest offer by Kevin Rudd was
$137 million over four years. The Abbott government and federal minister
Christopher Pyne have offered $120 million over four years; however I am
advised that $18 million has already been paid so it matches or slightly
exceeds the offer of the Labor government.
