The Department of Housing advises:
(1)  The State Government acknowledges that it has a duty of care to its employees who experience a family breakdown whilst posted in regional areas.
(a)  The Department, through its GROH program has an obligation under the
Government Employees' Housing Act 1964
to provide a house for any eligible government employee, where the client agency requests housing to be provided. Where a family breakdown occurs the Department has approved the short term provision of housing to the government employee's family, upon receipt of a request in writing from the employee, supported by the employing client agency. The Department will continue to adopt this policy approach to ensure that government employees and their families are supported during these times.
(2)  No
(a)  The State Government is unable to provide specific government employee housing for temporary crisis accommodation as the
Government Employees' Housing Act 1964
does not provide for this to occur.  However, the Department does provide 11 crisis accommodation properties within the Pilbara region for families.
