I refer to the Baigup Wetland which was incorporated into Bush Forever Site 313 (Swan River Saltmarshes, Bayswater/Maylands) in the year 2000 with an undertaking to have the whole site ceded to the Crown as an ‘A’ Class Nature Reserve by 2010, and ask: (a) will you ensure that the whole of Baigup Wetland is transferred immediately to the Crown as an ‘A’ Class Nature Reserve under the Land Administration Act 1997 , and if so when?

(a) The WAPC leased the Baigup wetlands to the City of Bayswater on 1st January 2002 for a period of ten years to enable an Area Assistance Grants Scheme grant (from the WAPC) to be expended. The land was proposed to be transferred to the Crown for management by the City, however, the City of Bayswater has not confirmed its intention in relation to the future management of the land. In the meantime, the Department of Planning (on behalf of the WAPC) has assumed interim management. Resolution of management of all Bush Forever sites is intended to be resolved as part of the Strategic Assessment of the Perth and Peel Regions.
