(3) The Government supports amendments to the Act, and will honour the commitment made in its 2001 election policy platform that “Labor will amend the Residential Tenancies Act to create more certainty for residents in caravan parks and home park owners”. (4) Preparation for the review has already commenced. In June, the Department of Consumer and Employment Protection sought feedback from key stakeholders about major issues that the review is likely to need to consider. Six submissions have been received. The Department is currently incorporating these submissions into a Discussion Paper that will be available for the public consultation phase of the review. (5) The Government will be progressing the review of the Act as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we encourage prospective and existing park home tenants seeking more security, to negotiate fixed term leases where possible. Section 64 only applies to periodic leases.
