986. Hon Neil Thomson to
the minister representing the Minister for Child

I refer to the
recent spate of motor vehicle thefts in Kununurra and the answer to question
without notice 948.
(1) Of the 17 offenders, how many were in the care
of the state?
(2) Of the 11 repeat offenders, what number of
convictions had been accumulated by those 11 offenders previously?
(3) For (2), of those in state care, what was the
accumulated offence record?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following response has
been provided by the Minister for Child Protection.
The Department of
Communities advises the following.
(1)–(3) As Kununurra is a small community,
it is not appropriate to provide further information as this could lead to the
young people being identifiable within their community.
