(a) As from January 2008, TAFEWA
colleges assumed full responsibility for their internal audits which were previously carried out by the Department's internal audit area.

(a) Recently, individuals experienced in investigation have been recruited against the Department of Education and Training's Standards and Integrity Directorate Investigation Teams. These officers conduct investigations into misconduct matters within the Department. Other staff within the Department may or may not have investigative backgrounds such as those stated in the question, however these skills were not necessarily part of the criteria of their relevant job descriptor at the selection stage of the employment process.

(a) Quality assessment of the Department's internal audit activity was undertaken by an external assessor in 2007 as required under the Instituteof Internal Auditors Standard1312. This resulted in the establishment of a combined Internal Audit and Risk Management Committee and development of an internal audit charter clarifying the role of the internal auditor.
