I refer to question without notice No. 12, asked on 16 February 2016, to the Minister for Environment regarding acts of vandalism in the Burrup, and I ask: (a) has the formal investigation into the vandalism been completed; (b) if yes to (a), what was the outcome; (c) if no to (a), will the Minister and/or the Department of Aboriginal Affairs (DAA) provide a detailed update on the status of the investigation; (d) if no to (c), why not; (e) have the offenders been identified; (f) if yes to (e), have the offenders been prosecuted; (g) if no to (f), why not; (h) if yes to (f), will the Minister and/or the DAA provide the official charges; (i) what measures have been implemented by the DAA to ensure vandalism like this will not occur again; (j) will the Minister and/or the DAA please outline these measures and the timeframe for their implementation; (k) if no to (j), why not; (l) if no measures have been implemented, why not; and (m) if no measures have been implemented, are any measures being undertaken to ensure vandalism like this will not occur again?

The Minister for Environment has provided the following response.
(a) Yes.
(b) There was insufficient evidence to identify the offender(s).
(c)-(d) Not applicable.
(e) No.
(i) The Department of Parks and Wildlife has been working with the Department of Aboriginal Affairs and the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation to increase management presence and patrols in the Murujuga National Park; has undertaken public education to increase awareness of the cultural values of the Burrup; and has undertaken a graffiti management and removal training workshop.
(j) The measures are ongoing, and increased patrols of the affected areas commenced immediately upon the offences being reported.
(k)-(m) Not applicable.
