I thank Hon Bruce Donaldson and Hon Ray Halligan for some notice of the question, which I answer on behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure. The minister has provided the following answer — (1) All of the 38 transit officers work specifically and exclusively on the northern suburbs line. (2) The transit police work across all lines on the metropolitan rail network and target specific areas or locations only when the need arises through the use of intelligence. (3) All of the 24 customer service staff work specifically on the northern line. (4) The Public Transport Authority’s security section uses a system-wide approach when allocating the contracted revenue protection officers; hence they are not allocated to a specific line.
