for Transport:
(1) What are the full operating
costs of running the public transport rail system as it exists today?
(2) What will be
the cost increase to the public transport rail system once Metronet has been
completed?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) For the 2018–19
financial year, the total operating cost for Transperth train and Transwa rail
services is estimated at $364.1 million. Transperth train services are
subsidised at a rate of 58.1 per cent and Transwa rail services at 78.2 per
cent.
(2) Operating
costs associated with Metronet projects are being determined through the
planning process.
