I thank the member for Carine for an excellent question. I can announce that this is the forty-eighth year of the Kings Park Festival. I had the privilege of opening the festival on the first day of spring this month. Festival events are being held throughout this month, showcasing the wonders of the beautiful flora throughout Kings Park. As Minister for Environment, I have the privilege of being the minister responsible for Kings Park and the botanic gardens. Unfortunately, as the member for Nedlands, Kings Park only borders my electorate. The member for Perth has the privilege of being the member responsible for Kings Park. As members know, Kings Park has six million visitors each year. It is the number one tourist attraction in Western Australia. Kings Park is supported by an amazing number of staff and volunteers. In fact the volunteers outnumber the staff. As everyone knows, the facilities in Kings Park are second to none. This year Kings Park is celebrating the International Year of Forests. There is a free outdoor photographic exhibition of Kings Park’s special trees. Primary school children have developed a series of wonderful Trees for Life posters, which are on display each Sunday from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm. There are free live music performances featuring a range of local musicians in the botanic gardens. There are also many free events for the community to enjoy and to combine with a stroll through the mass displays of flora that are in full bloom during the month of September. There are free guided wildflower walks, which I suggest members opposite might like to take up. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER : I do not know why everybody in this place thinks that they have to answer every question that is asked. I am trying to get one more question. The Minister for Environment has the call. Mr W.R. MARMION : I have just outlined a number of free events. Aspects of Kings Park gallery is offering visitors the free opportunity to talk with local artists. Visitors can enjoy free dance and theatre performances of Kings Park’s own wildlife characters, the Adorable Florables. The family fun day was held on 11 September, which celebrated traditional Nyoongah culture with activities and entertainment. Members might be interested in this one: the Tree-mendous Family Day, which was held on 18 September, celebrated all things trees, such as tree climbing exhibitions by Kings Park arborists and flying-fox rides in Kings Park trees. Mr T.G. Stephens interjected. The SPEAKER : Member for Pilbara, I formally call you to order for the first time. That concludes question time.
