I thank the member for some notice
of the question. I am answering this question on behalf of the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Housing, who is out of the chamber on
urgent parliamentary business.
The Housing Authority advises —
(1) The project
is undergoing final land assembly involving the City of Canning and Department
of Lands. Simultaneously, the Housing Authority is completing its site
remediation, civil works and infrastructure upgrades prior to engagement of a development
partner. Since the project commenced, the Housing Authority has achieved a structure
plan and design guidelines approval from the Western Australian Planning
Commission and the City of Canning.
(2) The next
phase of the project is the procurement of a development partner in 2017. The
project will be phased in accordance with market conditions and development
time frames.
(3) Given the
scale of the project, the Housing Authority expects the approximately 2 000
dwellings to be delivered over a period of between eight and 10 years.
(4) An amount of $6 608 465 has been
expended.
(5) Approximately
$5.5 million has been budgeted for 2016–17 and a total of $15 000 000
over the forward estimates as part of the broader land development activities
in the asset investment program.
