Federal government—Aged-care funding
336. Mr Basil Zempilas to
the Premier:
I refer to the Prime Minister's visit to Perth on
Sunday.
(1) Did anyone from the state government meet with
the Prime Minister?
(2) If yes to (1), did they raise the urgent need
for federal government action funding for WA aged-care beds and local radiation
services for east and north metropolitan suburbs?
(3) If no to (1), why not?
(4) Why did the Premier not include the urgent
need for aged-care funding in his letter to the Prime Minister in May?

(1)–(4) Obviously, the Prime Minister was
here for the Resources Technology Showcase. It is an event that the federal
government has supported strongly, and I think the Prime Minister wanted to
make sure that he had the opportunity to express his personal support for it,
so he made a special, fleeting visit to Western Australia to demonstrate that
support. Anthony Albanese is the Prime Minister who gets WA. He has always been
supportive of our industries, particularly the industries that he knows drive
the national economy. In another week, I will be in Canberra. I already have a
time to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss a range of issues and,
obviously, aged care will be one of them. I look forward to that opportunity.
