Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience—Threatened
species—Impact
522. Hon Amanda Dorn to
the Minister for the Environment:
I refer to the Harry
Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience at Jorgensen Park and the proponent's
fauna assessment. That assessment declares that the event, running from 12 June
to 16 August, sits outside breeding seasons, yet correctly identifies the
forest's red-tailed black-cockatoo and Carnaby's black-cockatoo breeding
seasons as commencing in July. The assessment covered 20 metres either side of
the route, not the full 15-hectare area.
(1) What
action has the minister taken to protect listed species, given their breeding
seasons commence midway through the event?
(2) Will the minister direct the
Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions to assess the event's
impacts on listed threatened species across the full leased area and, if not,
why not?
(3) Will the minister seek updated
ecological advice before an extension of the event's period beyond 16 August
2026 and, if not, why not?
