BUILDING COMMISSION — KAMELEON HOMES
755. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the home builder Kameleon Homes and the investigation
undertaken by the Building Commission.
(1) What is the status of Kameleon Homes' licence?
(2) What is the status of the current
investigation being undertaken by the Building Commission's enforcement
branch into Kameleon Homes?
(3) When was the minister first made aware of complaints about home
builder Kameleon Homes?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) Mr Jeffrey West, trading as Kameleon
Homes, is no longer a registered building service provider or contractor. Mr
West's application for renewal as a practitioner was refused by the
Building Services Board on 16 August 2016. The board further accepted the
cancellation of Mr West's registration as a building service
contractor.
(2) The investigation is finalised and was
referred to the Building Services Board on 16 August 2016. The board resolved
to refer the disciplinary matters to the State Administrative Tribunal.
(3) From a search undertaken by my
department and ministerial office within the time available to them, I was
first made aware of a complaint on 8 June 2016. I will provide the member with
clarification should more information come to light.
