(1) The review into the Licensing Standards for the
Arrangements for Management, Staffing and Equipment: Private Psychiatric Hostels
has commenced.
(2) Preliminary discussions commenced in October 2014. The formal review commenced in February 2015 and is scheduled to conclude February 2016.
(3) A formal consultation process will take place and will include residents, consumer advocates, special interest groups, technical experts, departmental agencies and a wide range of stakeholders.
(4)The inaugural Licensing Standards for the
Arrangements, Management, Staffing and Equipment Private Psychiatric Hostels (Psychiatric Hostel Review)
were developed and enacted in 2004 and first reviewed in 2006. In order to reflect the ever increasing complexity and diversity of WA Health Psychiatric Services, the changes in contemporary models of mental health care and the imminent implementation of the
Mental Health Act 2014
it is now timely to conduct a subsequent review to ensure a contemporary set of Licensing Standards for the WA Psychiatric Hostel sector.
(5) This will be determined once the review has been completed.
