representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to the government's
announcement on 14 February 2024 of a refined pre-design conformance review
clearance process, which was supposed to speed up approvals and the supply of
power to development sites.
(1) What is the
average time currently being taken by Western Power for each step of the power
connection process for development sites for each of the following steps —
(a) validation;
(b) the calling
for and issuing of a tender;
(c) the receipt
of a design proposal from the successful tenderer;
(d) the Western
Power quality assurance phase; and
(e) the delivery
of approval when the project is approved?
(2) What is the
maximum time experienced for each of (1)(a)–(e)?

different from that contemplated by the question. Western Power's
average timeframes for each phase of its process for land development customer
connection projects are set out in the table below. These figures are for the
period 1 April to 1 July 2024. The answer is in tabular form and I seek leave
to incorporate it into Hansard .
