CULTURAL MATERIAL COMMITTEE — SPECIALIST ANTHROPOLOGIST
442. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs:
I refer to the functions of the Aboriginal Cultural Material
Committee and the specialist anthropologist.
(1) Is there currently an appointed specialist anthropologist
or deputy specialist anthropologist?
(2) If no to (1), when did these positions become vacant?
(3) If no to
(1), is the ACMC allowed to continue meeting in the absence of a specialist
anthropologist and are the decisions then made by the committee valid?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) No. The
Department of Aboriginal Affairs has conducted a nationwide recruitment process
for the specialist anthropologist position.
(2) The
specialist anthropologist on 31 May 2013, and the deputy specialist
anthropologist on 1 December 2011.
(3) Yes.
